Cougal Park Bed & Breakfast

Cougal Park Bed & Breakfast is situated in the McPherson Ranges, on The Lions Tourist Road, part of The Rainforest Way, 36 km north of Kyogle and 6 km south of the Queensland - New South Wales Border. Built on 135.5 hectares of remnant and regenerating Eucalypt and Rainforest, which ranges in elevation from 200 to 650m, it shares a 1.7km boundary with part of the World Heritage Listed Border Ranges National Park, and is home to many species of native wildlife, including Koalas, Wallabies, and 147 different species of native birds.

It’s the little things that make a big difference. Did you ever stay somewhere and have to ask for another pillow because the ones supplied were old and flat? Not here - let’s start with a Queen-size bed, Goose-down doonas, and enough fluffy pillows to satisfy the fussiest sleeper! While the showers use water provided direct from nature, heated by our own wood stove, filtered rainwater is provided for drinking. The ensuite is larger than you would imagine and decorated with quality fittings.

The magnificent view can be enjoyed together with a delicious breakfast served on the deck. With adjacent car park and easy access for those not so mobile, the house has two accommodation suites, consisting of a spacious bedroom with large bathroom, the bedrooms opening out onto a common verandah. The living and dining area surrounds a double sided fireplace, and is lined with wildlife paintings and opens onto the large deck which overlooks the award winning garden.

Only a 2 hour drive from Brisbane, Cougal Park provides you with a comfortable, peaceful rainforest environment to soothe and refresh the soul, together with high quality, traditional, home cooked meals, with vegetables straight from the garden, and fresh baked bread. We encourage you to bring your own wine (we are BYO) as there is nothing more relaxing than a glass of wine on the verandah at sunset.
